About this Offer

Departing your choice of airport you can choose either a 3 or 4 night stay in the capital Reykjavik. You’ll stay in a 3* hotel with en-suite facilities convenient to all the attractions this wonderful city has to offer and a local Icelandic Breakfast is included each morning.

Explore Reykjavík‘s downtown area through food with a fun, local guide.

On this 3-4 hour long tour, we will see some of Reykjavík‘s most beautiful sights go to 5-6 amazing restaurants, food trucks and local shops. All tours are with small groups which will ensure a personal and local experience.

You will get to taste the herb and grass fed, free roaming Icelandic lamb, enjoy a homemade ice cream made from a secret family recipe, try the best Icelandic cheese of the season and taste Skyr, the traditional Icelandic dairy product.

No food walk is complete without a stop at the famous Icelandic hot dog stand to get a hot dog with everything (raw onion, fried onion, ketchup, mustard and rémoulade).

You will additionally get to taste the local speciality, an authentic seafood soup and visit a variety of casual, fine dining and cosy family run businesses. Some of the places we go to are well-known must visit restaurants, while others are local secret hangouts.

Your package also includes a 24 hour hop on hop off ticket where you can take a bus tour with City Sightseeing and explore Reykjavík at your leisure, with the opportunity to hop on and off at conveniently located bus stops to see the major sights and attractions.

With the best of both worlds; a modern trendy and forward-looking city whilst at the same time being close to its unspoiled nature, Reykjavik truly is a magical place to behold and the bus offers you free Wi-Fi and guided audio.

Imagine a full size whale right next to you? Well you have 23 man-made life size models at the Whales of Iceland Exhibition in the harbour area. The exhibition is full of sounds, visual treats and interactive technology – a must do when in Reykjavik! and we’ve included it in the price.

In the Whales of Iceland Exhibition you will get to learn even more about the whales that live on Faxaflói bay and around Iceland and enjoy the amazing man-made, hand-painted, life-size whale models. It’s such a unique experience to walk through this world with soothing whale sounds, ambient underwater lighting and beach-like floors.

It’s only a 15 minute walk from the old harbour in an old fishing industry area that has in recent years been renovated for museums, shops & restaurants. Once you have experienced all the exhibition has to offer you can finish with a freshly baked pastry & a cup of coffee in their café. If you just love whales and would like to take one home, you can of course get a sneaky souvenir on the way out.

We’ve tours and packages to visit the Glaciers and the Ice Cave but if that’s not an option we have the next best thing. We’ve included a ticket to the Glaciers and Ice Cave exhibition, the first part of the Wonders of Iceland exhibition, in one of six hot water tanks in Perlan.

Glaciers and Ice Cave illustrates the Icelandic glaciers, their history and future.

An accurate replica of an ice cave can be found in the exhibition which you can walk through and experience how it is to travel through a glacier. You will only be able to experience it here since it is the first time this has been accurately done.

Learn about the glaciers' secret, dangers and melting which is changing the Icelandic landscape forever.

Remember to dress warmly for it is -10°c (14°F) inside the ice cave and will take you around 15 minutes to walk through the ice cave, and while you are there, you can take as many photos as you like. You will also be able to experience standing at the top of Vatnajökull glacier, with a 360° view.

Perlan museum is about 30 minutes walking distance from the city centre but can also be reached by one of the city buses or it’s a stop on the Hop on Hop off bus route.

If you would like the tour based on a particular hotel we offer a wide range in our hotels section and we are of course happy to quote on any of these.

Transfers are not included in the price as some people prefer to hire a car or take a private transfer which we can arrange but the best way from the airport to your hotel in our opinion is the Flybus transfer from Keflavik airport to your hotel and back for just £39pp return.

Our prices are based on the cheapest departure date in any given month from the departure airport as stated and prices are subject to change according to availability.

Flights are available from London Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, Stansted, London City, Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh & Belfast
